When Mike (Talleda) asked me to design the graphics for his fundraising
event, I saw it as an opportunity to show my patriotism and support for
the victims' families who had their loved one's killed by the terrorists
on September 11th.
As I was doing research for the project I realized that I had not seen
any photos of the actual attack for the last month and a half. I
realized that in our desire to "begin the healing" and to not "offend or
upset people" that we may be losing the vivid and jolting imagery that
we need to keep us properly outraged and angry. Yes, a righteous anger
is not only appropriate but necessary as we set out to destroy the
terrorists, their networks and indeed the very countries that support
them.
If we lose sight of what actually happened on September 11, 2001 then we
can more easily be weakened in our resolve to violently and aggressively
wage war against our terrorist attackers. I realize that the concept of
a violent and aggressive war on terrorism is unsettling to many people
that it is much easier to negotiate and discuss away our differences
with other countries and cultures. But that is not how people who have
attacked our cities and murdered our fellow Americans deserve to be
treated. They have earned our collective wrath and justice demands that
we, as a country, prosecute the war that will ensure punishment as well
as the future protection of the United States.
The money raised will go to a family of one of the victims. They must be
supported by as many Americans as possible. But more than money, their
loved one must not be forgotten and the way they were murdered must also
never be forgotten.
